Chelsea forwards Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro recently traded their football boots for a spot on the movie set, making an unexpected appearance in a promotional film for pop icon Madonna's upcoming album.
The two players, who were notably absent from the England and Brazil World Cup squads respectively, are among the high-profile names featured in 'Confessions II - The Film'. This 14-minute video was premiered by Madonna at the Tribeca Festival in New York and later uploaded to her YouTube channel.
Palmer and Joao Pedro make their cameo approximately six minutes into the film where they share a scene with Madonna herself. Award-winning British actor Benedict Cumberbatch also makes an appearance later on.
Season affected by injuries
Palmer missed out on England's 26-man squad for the World Cup hosted by US, Canada, and Mexico after enduring a season marred by injuries. On the other hand, despite scoring an impressive 20 goals across all competitions during his debut season at Chelsea, Joao Pedro was overlooked by Brazil.
Seven-time Grammy winner Madonna is known to be an avid supporter of both men's and women's teams of Chelsea FC. She was present at Stamford Bridge last October when Chelsea triumphed over Liverpool with a scoreline of 2-1 in Premier League action. In addition to this, she participated last month alongside British influencer Gymskin in launching Chelsea’s new home kit for the 2026-27 season via Twitch stream.
Madonna’s forthcoming album titled 'Confessions On A Dance Floor: Part II' is slated for release on July 3rd. With her consistent support towards football coupled with featuring high-profile athletes like Palmer and Joao Pedro in her promotional film, Madonna continues to bridge the gap between music and sports, creating a unique blend of entertainment for fans worldwide.
