AI starting to take over football broadcasting scene rapidly in all parts of world

The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the top-tier competition in US women’s soccer, has announced a new partnership with sports-focused video content provider, WSC Sports. This collaboration is centered around WSC's proprietary artificial intelligence (AI) powered highlights platform.

WSC Sports' video technology will utilize its unique AI service to create engaging video content disseminated across NWSL’s social media and digital channels. The most prominent application of this technology will be seen through the use of WSC’s AI highlights service to create real-time videos around games.

In the 2024 NWSL season, WSC will provide this service for over 150 NWSL games. The firm will analyze each fixture and ultimately generate "thousands of hours" of captivating content around the league.

Boosting coverage with lucrative media rights deals

In November 2023, NWSL secured lucrative long-term domestic media rights deals with renowned broadcasters ESPN, CBS, Amazon, and Scripps that extend through the 2027 season. These four-year contracts promise distribution of 118 games per season across these broadcast partners. This arrangement significantly broadens NWSL’s coverage while enhancing its commercial viability.

WSC Sports has established partnerships with several top sports competitions worldwide. These include women’s basketball’s elite WNBA competition and women’s golf's Ladies PGA Tour. The firm has also collaborated with various broadcasters to offer its services across their sports rights portfolios. One such recent partnership is with Spain's Movistar Plus.

This strategic alliance between NWSL and WSC Sports promises an enhanced viewing experience for fans by leveraging cutting-edge AI technology in creating real-time game highlights. It also underscores how technological advancements are revolutionizing not just the way sports are played, but also how they are consumed by fans. This partnership is a significant step forward in promoting women's soccer and expanding its reach to a broader audience.
